Parish Church of San Sebastiano

The parish church of San Sebastiano was built between 1886 and 1888 on the same site where, outside the walls, the Parish Church of San Benigno once stood. In fact San Benigno, now dilapidated, was demolished to build the new headquarters of Serralunga’s religious community. The painter Alba Fedele Finati painted nearly all of the interior decoration, while the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the apse is attributed to Sebastian Nizza. A carved wooden table with two Franciscan saints worshiping the Cross is featured on the central altar. A seventeenth-century painting attributed to Annibale Carracci, entitled “The Flagellated Christ,” is kept in the sacristy.
